            Andrew Symms

            Partner // Head of Construction and Infrastructure

            Andrew is a partner in the Construction, Infrastructure and Projects Group as well as Head of Nuclear and Biomass and Head of Energy and Industrials.

            As well as managing the Energy team Andrew specialises in construction and infrastructure, engineering, nuclear energy and oil and gas.

            Andrew's areas of expertise are commercial litigation and disputes and construction advice and disputes. He supports this with clear, practical advice on project and procurement contracts and agreements. His work is international, in particular across Russia, Eastern Europe, the Far East and Australia.

            Andrew is an Australian national and qualified and worked there for five years before moving to Hong Kong and doing the same. He speaks French, German and Russian and has extensive experience of projects in Germany, Poland, Russia and the Baltic States.

            Andrew has a wide range of contracting experience, particularly in relation to the issues surrounding the delivery of projects on time and to cost. The projects he has worked on range from residential and commercial buildings to international sporting venues, power stations, transmission lines and process plantsľ

            His work includes drafting and reviewing the disputes relating to the terms and conditions of building contracts, professional appointments, collateral warranties and security documentation including performance guarantees and parent company guarantees.

            When not at work Andrew is a great sports fan and supports rugby union and rugby league in Leeds. He holds a Burnley Football Club season ticket and also enjoys long distance running, skiing and foreign travel.
