            Our specialist team has substantial experience, including fluent Russian speakers and offers technical legal excellence together with a commercial and practical solutions. Our Russian market specialists work across a wide number of sectors, including oil and gas, renewables, telecommunications, automotive, healthcare, food, road haulage and logistics, construction, as well as infrastructure and technology.

            Acting for multinational household names through to high value individuals, investors and entrepreneurs, we advise on matters including mergers and acquisitions, equity capital, EU and competition law, wealth management, real estate, construction advice and disputes, private equity and venture capital, intellectual property and licensing as well as business immigration, commercial litigation, Arbitration (LCIA, ICC etc.) and dispute management.

            We have over ten years’ experience of the Russian market. We’ve acted as co-counsel with numerous legal and accountancy firms in Russia. Several of our specialists are fluent in Russian, with many others being bilingual / dual-qualified lawyers from the Ukraine, Germany, France, Spain and Italy.

            Importantly, we’re not just limited to working in Russia. We’ll work with you in all countries with which the Russian legal system has a close connection - including the CIS countries, Cyprus, the Netherlands, BVI, Jersey, Guernsey and other offshore jurisdictions.

            We don’t just provide legal advice, either – our Russian services extend to UK and Russian-based secondments as well as training on English law for our Russian co-counsel and the organisation of related events. Our junior litigators are members of the LCIA’s Young International Arbitration Group.

            Examples of our work include obtaining a $2.85 billion Court Order in a shareholder's dispute, regarding new oil ventures in Russia and Ukraine; co-ordinating the strategy for and managing litigation in a $500 million dispute between shareholders in a dispute in an oil refinery and PET Plant in Russia (the case involved a worldwide freezing injunction and proceedings in Guernsey, BVI, Cyprus and Russia); advising a Russian individual in relation to a complex claim involving a US $100 million loan facility (the claim included an LCIA arbitration in London for US $50 million, injunctive action in Cyprus and proceedings in Russia); acting for the leading company in Russia and Eastern Europe's petrochemistry industry in a US $50 million dispute relating to the purchase of "emission reduction units" pursuant to the Kyoto protocol; advising in respect of a US $5 million retention claim following the purchase of a company for US $31 million, involving Russian and Cypriot companies; and numerous cross-jurisdictional contractual disputes relating to a well-known oil and gas exploration company and its subsidiaries, operating in the Pechora region of western Russia and the Caspian basin.
