Kate specialises in advising insurers and their insureds in relation to prosecutions and inquest-related matters, and has been involved in some of the most prominent cases in this field in recent years.
In this aspect of her work, Kate regularly deals with extremely sensitive cases, working closely with the insured individuals, company directors and officers, or employees. Her work stems from a wide range of insured activities across different sectors including healthcare, education, sports, and social care, and covers a variety of serious offences. Kate also liaises with DWF's injury teams where civil claims and prosecution-related aspects overlap to enhance the service offering to insurers.
She also provides expert advice to insurers in relation to highly technical policy coverage and interpretation issues, both as a result of claims made and general advice on policy wording and amendments. Her work covers a variety of sectors and product lines, including public liability, employers’ liability, products, and motor, and she deals with a range of indemnity issues such as misrepresentation and non-disclosure issues, avoidance, compliance with policy terms, and aggregation. She particularly specialises in RTA / Article 75 work; a technical area of commercial insurance law under the motor policy coverage regime.
Kate enjoys hiking and climbing, ballet, and volunteering at a local homeless charity.
