        Iain specialises in non-contentious and contentious issues relating to or arising from the construction, engineering, infrastructure and energy industries.

        Iain has represented various professional bodies including the Civil Engineering Committee of the Hong Kong Construction Association in policy discussions with the Hong Kong Government. 

        Iain has drafted a full range of contracts for major projects in the UK and the Far East on behalf of Governments, quasi-governmental organisations, employers, major contractors and international consultants. He has been involved in litigation, arbitration, adjudications and mediations in many countries particularly the UK, Trinidad, Saudi Arabia, Republic of Sudan, Malaysia, UAE, Hong Kong, Vietnam and Indonesia. 

        He was listed in Euromoney's Guide to the World's Leading Energy and Natural Resources Lawyers and in Arbitration in Legal Business' Legal Experts. 

        Iain is admitted in England and Wales, Hong Kong, Australian Capital Territory and the Federal Courts of Australia.  

        • Kuala Lumpur City Centre Project: Acting on behalf of the Employer in relation to the design and construction of Kuala Lumpur City Centre project (“the Petronas Twin Towers”).
        • Rama VII Bridge: Drafting the consortium documentation for the joint venture design team consisting of Canadian and UK/Thailand based engineers involved in the design and construction of the 2.7 billion baht Rama VIII cable stay bridge in Bangkok.
        • Hong Kong International Airport: Drafting the consortium documentation for two competing international bidding groups for the construction of the New Hong Kong Airport platform.
        • Integrated Petrochemical Facility: Advising an Asian Oil Company in relation to the proposed development of an Integrated Petrochemical Facility utilising off shore gas as feed stock for both its own and third party plants.
        • Representing a Dutch Dredging company in a HK$ 100 million dispute with the Hong Kong Government arising out of the reclamation of land in Kowloon for the construction of the Western Harbour Crossing and the new Airport Railway Terminal building.
        • Representing a UK Train Operating Company in a series of adjudications arising out of the design and construction of a new Railway Depot, track and signalling against 2 separate contractors.
        • Representing a consortium of 4 international oil companies from Sudan, China, Malaysia and Canada in an ICC arbitration brought by an Argentinean EPC contractor in relation to various claims arising out of the design and construction of a Marine Oil Terminal.
