        Grant Docherty

Head of Banking & Finance (Scotland)

Grant is head of DWF's Banking and Finance department in Scotland. His practice covers a broad range of work including bilateral and syndicated loans, asset finance, structured finance and securitisation and debt restructuring.

Grant has over 24 years' experience in banking and finance and whilst my practice is dominated by lender work, he also covers a significant amount of borrower work.

Grant's clients have included banks and financial institutions, corporate borrowers and financial services and banking regulators. His particular areas of expertise are:

        • Real estate finance, involving the funding of real estate investment deals, real estate development deals and structured real estate financings, including developments funded under the Business Premises Renovation Allowance scheme. He has been involved in a number of recent hotel financings.
        • Leveraged acquisition finance in relation to the funding of corporate acquisitions, MBO's and MBI's.
        • Renewables finance, with particular expertise in wind farm financings.
        • Project finance involving infrastructure projects.
        • Large corporate financings involving multiple jurisdictions.
        • Asset finance, including ship and aircraft finance.

Outside of work Grant coaches junior cricket at the Grange Cricket Club in Edinburgh. He also plays cricket for the club, but is now slipping down the ranks as age has caught up with him!

He is a member of the Royal & Ancient Golf Club in St Andrews and Royal Burgess Golf Club in Edinburgh and is a fanatical, but not very talented, skier.
