            David Wood

            Consultant

David advises clients in all sectors on asset and consumer finance documentation and procedures and FCA consumer and mortgage credit regulation.

Having spent many years as a commercial litigator, mainly in asset and consumer finance, David has gained considerable experience of these sectors, particularly finance documentation, procedures and consumer credit law and practice. He now advises clients in all sectors in relation to these matters and in particular on FCA regulation.

David's clients include high street banks, asset funders and asset based lenders as well as other commercial businesses. Whilst he spent many years as a litigation specialist for clients in the financial services sector (in particular asset and consumer finance and mortgage lending), he now advises clients on asset and consumer finance documentation and procedures and FCA regulation and compliance issues (including consumer contract issues, such as distance selling), and more recently on the impact of the Mortgage Credit Directive.

His work has provided him with extensive knowledge of consumer credit, hire purchase and leasing (both finance and operating lease structures) as well as experience of wholesale funding, including fleet and dealer finance); vendor, dealer and broker relationships; mortgage lending, receivables financing and other back to back lending.

He provides advice on new funding projects, particularly wholesale funding from a risk management perspective and gives general advice and training on FCA compliance issues, including mortgage regulation and in particular the Mortgage Credit Directive.

Away from work David enjoys gardening, bird watching, wildlife and the great outdoors. He also supports Manchester United.
