David is a commercial litigator and dispute specialist, described in the Legal 500 as 'relentless' in pursuit of his clients' aims. He aims for resolution in all aspects of his work, often through mediation, arbitration or expert determination.
His work and clients are national but he typically works for businesses in the north, north-east and Newcastle, Tyne and Wear. Much of his work is in the food, retail, education and healthcare sectors.
David is recognised by the Legal 500 for his defamation practice as he has particular expertise in advising on reputational issues. This covers advice on malicious falsehood, harassment, breach of confidence and privacy in the media, both in printed publications and on social media, for example Facebook, blogging, Twitter and YouTube.
David acts in high value and complex litigation, including pensions disputes and fraud. He has been invited several times by the North East Fraud Forum to speak as an authority on both defamation and civil fraud. He also has significant experience in breach of commercial contracts, warranty claims, negligence actions and breach of director's duties and regularly provides injunctive advice on breach of confidentiality, data theft, database rights and breach of restrictive covenants.
David is a member of DWF's Corporate Responsibility Group which helps to organise charity fundraising and volunteering contributions in the local community.
