Colin's areas of legal expertise include intellectual property, EU and competition law and contracts and agreements. He acts for organisations in the technology, food and education sectors.
Colin has advised on a number of high profile patent disputes including acting for Bayer and other chemical producers. His work also includes the licensing of patents, trade-marks and copyright as well as joint research and development agreements. He has acted for a number of life science companies and spin-outs as well as The Robert Gordon University. In the field of trademarks he has acted for Morrison Bowmore, a leading Scottish whisky distillery. Copyright clients include Scottish Television, BBC Scotland and BiP Solutions.
Colin is accredited as a specialist in intellectual property law by the Law Society of Scotland and is qualified to practice in both Scotland and England.
In his work as a competition specialist he has advised clients across a variety of sectors, in numerous cartel investigations, by the UK competition authorities. These include the roofing, dairy and transport sectors. He is a part of DWF's procurement team, advising public sector clients on procurement procedures within the context of projects and on challenges to decisions.
Outside of work Colin has interests in classical music as well as more active pursuits including golf, running half marathons and hill walking.
