Alan heads up the Real Estate litigation team in the North West, and have over 22 years' experience in dealing with property related disputes, whether through litigation, mediation, negotiation or tactical advice.

Over the last 24 years, Alan has worked with many substantial companies, including a number of household names assisting in the management of their property portfolios.

Alan has particular expertise in the telecoms sector, having acted for operators for over 15 years, dealing with issues that regularly arise in the operation of a substantial and nationwide portfolio of rooftop and greenfield mast sites. As part of his work in this sector Alan has been involved in the Law Commission review of the Telecoms Code, and the proposed amendments to this legislation. Alan is a regular speaker at the RICS Telecoms Form annual conference in London.

Alan acts for a wide range of clients, including developers, investors, retailers, and local authorities, advising on problems that can occur during site assembly, completion of the development or the disposal of the end investment, as well as issues that can arise in the management of a property portfolio. Alan works closely with colleagues in the wider Real Estate team, and in many cases, his early involvement can avoid an expensive dispute arising in the first place, or at lease limit the contentious issues.

In real estate litigation there is rarely a standard dispute, and issues can include advice on the enforceability of restrictive covenants, rights to light, as well as boundary, access and title disputes.
