            ASA guidance published on targeting online advertising for age restricted products:The Advertising Standards Authority has published new guidance on the Code of Advertising Practice, requiring marketers using interest based factors to place adverts for age restricted products to demonstrate (through demographic and behavioural data) that they have taken reasonable care to exclude under 16’s and under 18’s. View >

            Evidence required to support advertising claims: The Advertising Standards Authority has used judgments to highlight the evidence required to substantiate claims. View > The ASA has also ruled against a price reduction claim by Laptops Direct in respect of lack of evidence that the higher price was in fact charged View > and also in respect of a claim of ‘up to 50% off everything’ by Mountain Warehouse where some items were not in fact reduced. View >

            Health claims for glucose rejected: The Court of Justice of the EU has dismissed an appeal by Dextro Energy concerning rejection by the EU Commission of various health claims relating to glucose, on the basis that sugar consumption is too high and that therefore positive messages about glucose are ambiguous and misleading. View >

            EU technical regulations:

            • Sets maximum residue levels for pesticide tricyclazole. 2017/983 > 
            • Authorises endo-1,3(4)-beta-glucanase, alpha-amylase, endo-1,4-beta-xylanase and bacillolysin as feed additives. 2017/963 > 
            • Suspends use of ethoxyquin as a feed additive. 2017/962 >
