The deadline for Local Authorities to have their Highways Maintenance Policies in place has approached. In this session, which is for the benefit of those who have implemented the policy and those who handle claims, John Thompson will look at issues that Local Authorities face both before and after proceedings are issued to assist in defending highways claims.
We will discuss how the new code of practice affects the claims process pre and post issue with additional tactical guidance.
After a short break, we will then consider the fact that there has been an unprecedented surge in the number of housing disrepair claims as claims management companies move into this arena, resulting in extensive financial exposure to those in the housing industry and their insurers. More often than not these claims are spurred on by unscrupulous enablers and claims management companies.
DWF's Housing Disrepair and Strategic Team look at the legal developments around these issues and how to deal with them, providing guidance on preparing for the changes and how to defend suspected claims.
